Good Cleaner’s Guide

  • Never leave client’s keys unattended and never put names, addresses or numbers on the key tags. Do use the customer keys only on the day of the cleaning visit.
  • Always remember to lock all doors and windows before leaving with all keys you have, unless otherwise specify by the Customer or Cleaner Team.
  • If you break or damage something, always tell Cleaner Team as soon as it happens, so we can deal with the situation straight away and inform the Client immediately.
  • If you notice anything unusual (leak, damage, etc.) in customer premises, you must notify Cleaner Team immediately, so we can speak to the client right away.
  • When operating in customer property, you are not allowed to open the door to anyone (neighbour, relative, friend, builder, etc.), unless specifically instructed by the Client or Cleaner Team.
  • Never ask a relative or friend to stand in for you, as they will not be covered by insurance, and understandably clients don’t like it, ask yourself would you like a complete stranger to be alone in your home for a day.
  • Never throw away any material that may look like rubbish but it is not in the bins, even if it looks like rubbish. Always speak to the Client or anyone from the office to be sure what to do and for further instructions.
  • When cleaning house/flat top cooker hobs it is easy to brush up against a switch and turn it on accidentally, so do ensure the hobs are off before leaving the premises. Do use only a soft sponge/cloth together with non-abrasive detergent, when cleaning the hobs for obvious reasons.
  • Be careful when cleaning sinks and kitchen surfaces as they can mark or chip very easily, clients notice these things and some are extremely fussy. Never use abrasive cleaning fluids (like Bleach or bleach based) or cloths on any surface, do ask for an alternative.
  • Be careful not to leave any taps dripping, as this can become serious if the plug or cloth blocks the plughole. Make sure you always turn off all taps firmly and always remember to leave the plugs out.
  • Any specific surfaces like marble, granite, wood, etc., have to be cleaned with a specific product, provided by the Customer, and manner. If you are uncertain you must ask the Client and the office for instructions and guidance. The Client must ensure they provide the correct cleaning product and full instruction to the office in case of any such surfaces.
  • Only use Bleach on toilets. If the Client instructs you differently, call the office immediately for advice.
  • Never dispose of any clothes, toilet tissues, wipes, kitchen paper or other items/rubbish in clients’ toilets, to avoid blockage, etc.
  • If instructed to wash client’s clothes, never mix colours and always check labels to be sure which washing machine programme to use. Be careful and do not wash items which are intended for dry clean only. Call the office and ask for instructions if hesitate.
  • NEVER WASH WOOL JUMPERS, CARDIGANS OR SIMILAR IN WASHING MACHINE/DRYER!
  • If instructed to do ironing, always check item’s labels and iron at the appropriate temperature.
  • Remember to always switch off irons after you’ve used them and never place an iron flat down, even if it’s switched off, always leave it upright.
  • Never use client’s computers, telephones or other personal items.
  • Never smoke in a client’s home.
